Do you have to be a member of the American Interventional Headache Society (AIHS) to earn the certificate?2023-12-18T20:36:13+00:00

No, you do not have to be a member of AIHS to earn the certificate. The certificate process is open to anyone who meets the eligibility requirements.

Do I have to be practicing medicine in USA to apply for the exam?2023-12-18T20:36:13+00:00

No. You need to be a physician in good standing with a current valid license to practice medicine in your country. Please refer to other eligibility requirements.

How do I know if a CME course qualifies for the training portion of the exam requirements?2023-12-18T20:36:13+00:00

A list of acceptable courses will be provided on the AIHS website and updated periodically. All courses must fulfill specific requirements that are reviewed by a volunteer committee of experts on an ongoing basis.

Do I need to pass the written, practical, and oral parts of exam, to obtain the certificate?2023-12-18T20:36:13+00:00

Yes. You need to pass the 3 exam parts to obtain the certificate. All the 3 exam sections will be provided on the same day.

If I failed my first attempt, can I take the exam again?2023-12-18T20:36:14+00:00

If a physician fails one or more components of the exam, he/she must reapply and fill another application form for a future exam date. Application fees will not be reimbursed.

When the exam will be offered?2023-12-18T20:36:14+00:00

The exam will be offered twice a year: in the spring and fall.

On which procedures will I be tested during the practical exam?2023-12-18T20:36:14+00:00

You will be tested on the procedures that you regularly perform in your practice. This will be corresponding to the procedures you indicated on the “scope of practice” section of the examination application.

How much does the certificate cost?2023-12-18T20:36:14+00:00

The application fee is $250 (non-refundable). Afterwards, applicants who are accepted for the certificate will then be required to pay a $2,000 certificate fee which must be paid in order to be scheduled for the examination.

How long is the certificate valid for?2023-12-18T20:36:14+00:00

The certificate is valid for 10 years, after which time the physician may elect to renew the certificate.
